           GRADE ONE - QUARTER THREE

1.  Recognize rhyming words in nursery rhymes, poems, songs heard 

     a. I Love to Rhyme - the video gives 2 words that rhyme and children will guess the third word

     b. Rhyming for Kids - shows sample and non-samples 

     c. Phonics - Learn to Read I Rhyme & Sing - uses rhymes to form new words

2.   Recognize sentences (telling and asking) and non-sentences

      a. Difference between a Sentence and a Phrase

      b. Telling Sentence and Asking Sentence

3.   Use words that are related to self, family, school, and community

​

4.   Listen to short stories/poems

      a. Note important details pertaining to character, setting, events

      b. Give the correct sequence of three events

      c. Infer the character feelings and traits

      d. Identify cause and effect of events

      e. Identify the speaker in the story or poem

      f.  Predict possible ending of a story read

      g. Relate story events to one's experience

      h. Discuss, illustrate, dramatize specific events

      i. Identify the problem and solution

      j. Retell a story listened to

      k. Ask simple questions about the text listened to

5.   Use/Respond appropriately to polite expressions (greetings, leave takings, expressing gratitude          and apology, asking persmission, offering help)

GRADE ONE - QUARTER FOUR

1.  Recognize describing words for people, objects, things, and places

​

2.  Sort and classify familiar words into basic categories (colors, shapes, foods, etc.)

​

3.  Give the meaning of words using clues (TPR, pictures, body movements)

     a. Guess the Word Challenge - uses pictures to guess the word

     b. English Verbs of Body Movements - features body movements with sample pictures

​

4. Follow one-to-two step directions

     a. Folow Me - features basic movements that children can follow using a fun song

     b. Following Directions - also increases listening skills and discrimination

​

5.  Give one-to-step directions
